Oslo Central Station closed for six weeks this summer due to major construction work

Between 26th June and 8th August 2011 extensive construction work will take place on the railway through Oslo. This will result in lines being closed all the way from Skøyen in the west to Bryn in the east and Grefsen in the north, including most of Oslo Central Station.

A big lift: There will be extensive work in the heart of Oslo this summer. Photo: Hilde Lillejord Only Østfold Line trains will arrive and depart from Oslo Central Station during the six week construction period from 26th June until 8th August. Trains on all other services to and from the capital will terminate at stations outside of the construction area.

Trains to/from the west: Long-distance trains on the Sørland Line and the Bergen Line will use Drammen as an arrival and departure point. Local trains and inter-city trains (Vestfold Line) will use Skøyen as an arrival and departure point. Buses will operate between Skøyen, Oslo Central Station and Lillestrøm for further transfer to trains.

Trains to/from the east and north: The long-distance and inter-city trains of the Dovre Line and the Kongsvinger Line will use Lillestrøm as an arrival and departure point. Local trains on the Main Line will use Bryn as an arrival and departure point. Other trains will terminate at Lillestrøm. Buses will operate between Oslo Central Station and Lillestrøm for further transfer to trains. Passengers to and from local trains may use the Oslo Metro from the city centre to Brynseng metro station, where they may walk to Bryn station and continue by local train.

Gjøvik Line: Local and regional trains on the Gjøvik Line will use Grefsen as an arrival and departure point. Passengers to and from the Gjøvik Line may use the Oslo Metro to Storo metro station, where they may walk to Grefsen station and join the Gjøvik Line.

Airport Express Train: Buses will replace the Airport Express Train at 20 minute intervals between the Airport Express Train stations and Lillestrøm. The Airport Express Train will operate between Gardermoen and Lillestrøm.
Relevant transfer stations: Skøyen, Lysaker, Drammen, Lillestrøm, Bryn and Grefsen will be stations where passengers may transfer to alternative means of transport. For passengers travelling on long-distance trains on the Bergen Line and the Sørland Line, local and inter-city trains to/from Skøyen may be used as an alternative. Please note that buses from Oslo Central Station will have earlier departure times so that trains may depart according to schedule from their new departure station.
