The GSM-R network for safe railway communication is in full service on all the Norwegian rail lines. Railway employees and train operators have been equipped with GSM-R terminals. All terminals must be type approved according to an authorisation process.
The Norwegian National Rail Administration owns, operates and maintains the GSM-R system. An Operation Centre located in mid-Norway organises and executes the maintenance on all levels.
